Moving?!?!
Last week an older home came up on the market. Now we weren't "looking" fora new home, but we knew that someday we wanted to move into one of the more historic homes in Joliet. Being a Catholic town, the historic district in Joliet is called the "Cathedral Area" and is centered around the Catholic cathedral (where Pete and I were married, btw). Now these homes don't go on the market very often, and when they do they don't last. Our family friend and real estate agent called us up and got us right into this house and we fell in love with it. Here's an outside shot:

Here are some of the details: The house was built in the 20's so it has a lot of nice details (coved ceilings, molding, high ceiling, built in's, two fireplaces, etc.) It has three bedrooms and an office, two and a half baths, a living room, formal dining room and two sun rooms. The sun rooms are like little wings that project out from each end of the house. You can kind of see them in the picture. The kitchen is pretty large for an older home and there is a little room just for a kitchen table.
Of course nothing is final yet. We still have to have the inspection done and there are a few little details in the contract to work through, but it looks good so far. Wish us luck!
Needless to say, with getting our house ready to put on the market I haven't had time to do any knitting. Hopefully soon!

I love it! I hope the inspection works out...mmmm... knitting in a sun room. wow.

A house with great character and charm - good luck on it. Not two sun rooms - a sun room and a knitting room.

Here's to hoping your absence from the blog means the deal on that house is going through! Hang in there.

What a gorgeous house! It looks like a mansion to this island girl. I'm use to compact and efficient use of real estate. *g* Luck to you on making that your new home.
