Now where was I?
Whew! I can hardly believe all that has happened over the last few weeks. We are buying the house and we will be moving at the end of May. (Did I say May!?!?!?) In addition, we just got back from vacation (Disney World) last night. I'd like to say that things are going to be settling down now, but I'm sure that with the packing and moving it will only get worse before it gets better. I just keep trying to remember that after this move, we won't be going anywhere for a very long time.
Needless to say, there hasn't been a whole lot of knitting going on around here. I did start a new project a while back though and I know I haven't posted a picture yet. So here it is:

This is my Keepsake Shawl knit in Koigu. You may remember that I purchased this pattern as well as a bunch of Koigu on my visit to ThreadBear. I loved knitting my Charlotte, so I couldn't wait to start the Keepsake and I am not disappointed. I'm already into the second color and I can't wait to knit more! Is it the Koigu? Is it the simplicity of this lace pattern? I don't know, but I'm addicted.
And look what else arrived in the last few weeks:

That's all the fixin's for Ingeborg! And of course I got my Daletta at ThreadBear! I'm doing colorway #1 and I'm probably knitting the small size. Which brings me back to my vacation. Those of you who have been to Epcot at Disney World probably know about the beautiful Dale of Norway sweaters that they sell at the Norway exhibit. I tried on a gorgeous sweater that kind of reminded me of Ingeborg and the small was a perfect fit. While trying on the sweater I started chatting with the woman working at the exhibit who was from Norway. She told me that Ingeborg was a popular name for girls in Norway and that Bessengen (the sweater that I am making for Pete) is the name of a mountainous area in Norway. She told me a story of her parents hiking up to the top and then being almost too exhausted to get back down. Kind of fun to hear where the names come from.
So, that's a little bit of what's been going on here. And if you heard about the tornados in Joliet, we are okay! They touched down a couple blocks from where my Mom lives, but her house, my sisters' houses and our new and old house are both still standing.
Now I think that I'm going to go start a pair of Broadripple Socks with some Bearfoot in Wild Raspberry that Theresa got me for my birthday. Ooooooh soft. I know that someone out there is hosting a knit-a-long. Gotta figure out who that is. . .
Welcome back, girlfriend! Keepsake is going to be totally wonderful. I love the colors you picked!

Mmmmm....Koigu. Love it. And yes, there's a huge Broadripple Knitalong happening. I'm ready to start a second pair, but I'm not sure what yarn I want to use yet. I'll be watching your Mountain Colors to see how it shapes up. The Knitalong url is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/

Glad to know the tornadoes missed you. The same storm system came through here (Central IL) before it went your way - we had a funnel cloud, but it didn't touch down. Scary!
Happy Knitting from another IL person!

Congratulations on that house. It sounds absolutely wonderful. Here's to many great years in it for you and your family.
Now, about that shawl you're making. It's STUNNING!

Glad to know that you're ok, just busy. Can't wait to see more pics of the house as you move in. How exciting! Keepsake looks gorgeous... I'm waiting for my Charlotte makings to arrive from Threadbear. Aren't those guys great?

Glad you didn't get blown away being in Tornado Alley there! I grew up in Elmhurst and lived in Bolingbrook for about twelve years before moving up to Western Michigan about 6 years ago. Beautiful house you're moving into and I love the Keepsake! Colors are fantastic.

So, an unsolicited inquiry: Is the keepsake shawl lace pattern as easy as the one for Charlotte? My Charlotte's almost done, and I'm itching to knit another shawl... BEAUTIFUL work, Julie, and love the haircut! Congrats on the house, too!
Hilary, busy weeding in Central IL
