Up and Down

I feel like I'm manic depressive these days.  One hour up, one hour down.  Today I had an appointment with a neurologist who diagnosed me with migraines.  He seems like a great guy and he shares my philosophy on medication -- only in moderation and only when lifestyle changes won't do the trick -- so I was really up after that.  Then I had a pre-surgery visit with another doctor.  Followed by a visit with the surgical consultant and down I went.  I know it's just a minor surgery, but I was once again reminded of how painful this will be.  I'm sure that has me stressed.

So I guess I'm all over the charts.  I'm really looking forward to the holidays (for a change) because that means that the worst of this will be behind me.  The tonsils will be out, I'll have a handle on the migraines (hopefully!) and life should settle down.  (During the holidays?  What am I thinking?)

I did start a new knitting project and I'll take pictures as soon as I'm a little farther along and it actually looks like something.  I will say this though, it's for Maddie, it's magenta and it's from New Knits on the Block.  Any guesses?

The thought of surgery is very stressfull, but I know your tonsil surgery is going to go smoothly. I'm hoping you like ice cream!

Remember the Gallbladder Surgery I mentioned last week? I've been to the hospital and back already, now I have extra knitting time : ).

I have suffered from migraines for 30 years, since I was 8. For over 20 years they couldn't find a medication that would work for me. You are going to laugh at what I did that almost always worked. I drank a can of Coke and ate Salt and Vinegar chips. I know, it sounds stupid but it really worked for me.

Good Luck.

Hey there,
I hope that your surgery goes well. Maybe when your stress level goes down and your migraines are under control, then you will start to feel better emotionally. Hugs!

Sending positive vibes your way :)

Julie- I had my tonsils out at 25 and honestly, you'll be sore for a few days but the pros of not being sick all the time far outweighed the soreness and discomfort for a few days. The bad news, I couldn't eat ice cream, all the sweet made me really nauseauted. I did better wil warm liquids like broth and tea. Either way it's a simple procedure that will be over before you know it and you will be MUCH happier after! Email me if you need any support :)

i had a great dr years ago who helped find my migraine triggers. i can't eat peanuts or soy suace.
there was a long list, but fermented and yeast were some of the biggest contributors. thak G-d red wine isn't one of mine!

so sorry about the migraines...hoping for your healing and peace of mind.
