Very Excited (about a book!)

A couple of books just arrived, thank you Mr. UPS, and I am very excited about one of them.  Well, I'm excited about both of them, they are books after all and if you have been here before you probably have figured out how much I adore books.

At any rate, the book I'm excited about is this one:

Yep, Julie & Julia by Julie Powell.  Now I'm right in the middle of another book (Other Electricities by Ander Monson), so if you would like to read along with me -- go buy this book!  Go on!  Do it!  A little read-a-long -- what fun!  (I'm like the Oprah of the blog ring.  Ha!  Maybe after we read it we'll find out that Ms. Powell really didn't cook any of the recipes from Julia Child's cookbook.)

I'm giddy.  Can't you tell?

(And in case curiosity is eating at you, the other book in the box was Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook.  Yeah, I don't think I've really revealed it here, but I have something like 100 cookbooks.  Maybe more.  I'm afraid to count.)

Oh, that sounds like a fun book - and who doesn't love a book that sprang from a blog?! Go bloggers! But my library pile is massive...

I just finished J & J last week. It's a fast and fun read. I stayed up late the last few nights finishing it. Enjoy.

I read J&J right before Christmas - I liked it, although I decided not to gift it to my mom, since she's a vegetarian - but it was fun and quick!

Julie and Julie was very very good. Well worth reading.

I'm quite jealous of all your book acquisitions lately! I loved reading Julie's blog and hearing of all her culinary adventures.

I also have more than 100 cookbooks but I have to stop buying them until I get more bookshelves.

I just got the MS Baking Book for Christmas and have made a couple things from it already. Unlike a lot of MSL cookbooks, there are pictures of almost everything. I am sure you will enjoy it.

This is also on my reading list, can't wait to get to crack it open. I've also amassed quite a library of cook books, they make wonderful cozy winter reading I find.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of this book, as we seem to have similar tastes. I'm using it as my experiment in audio books -- my first listen via Ipod.

I love to cook, I love to read, I adore Julia Child, but I can't say that I'm really enjoying this book.
