Yikes.

jillian

I've had that happen to. UPS seems to be wrose than FedEx, I've never had FedEx "misplace" anything. It's the only kind of business I can think of that can provide that kind of service and stay in business!

Imbrium

The broken and bashed problem is inexcusable, but the dirty problem is inevitable. I worked as a driver at Airborne/DHL, and it is a disgustingly filthy job. The dirt is omnipresent, and it gets everywhere. Why they put us in white shirts (back when it was Airborne) was beyond me, since we were grimy within minutes of getting to work.

I wish I had some suggestions on how to improve things, but I really don't. I've had lots of struggles with UPS too (they refuse to acknowledge when my apartment number is on the package, even if it's on there three times.) I always hope that my previous experience with the industry will help me, and it never has.

sarah b.

That stinks! It reminds me of my mother-in-law watching them throw my Christmas present (a sewing machine) over the front gate that's 6 feet tall! I'm sorry about your frustrations and totally relate!

Theresa

I hate to say it, but I don't think it matters what shipper you use. Throughout my life in the lab we've used UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc. and each one of them had their good days and bad days. Fedex was really no better most of the time. Shipping just isn't a gentle business.

Dani

Not that it makes it any better but you are SO not alone. UPS is a nightmare. Fed Ex isnt perfect but they are better in my experience. I will gladly pay more to avoid UPS shipments! Plus have you ever looked at your package tracking online? Hubby just ordered a new motherboard - from a company in CA. The box has gone from CA to PA to WA (SEATTLE!!) then to NJ and is expected here in NY on MONDAY. WHY did it go from West Coast to East coast and back again only to come back this way? Kills me!

Anne

Just an FYI, neither carrier really cares that something says "fragile" or "this end up." In the shipping business there is no such thing.

toni

I so hear you. I ship a lot of manuscripts to a publisher weekly and periodically will get a package returned saying they weren't able to read the address. Yes, that's what happens when one of your UPS trucks has obviously run over it!

Christie

Some companies just have no pride in themselves.

freecia

Oh Gosh. That's just. Horrid horrid horrid.

Why are your packages so much more battered than the ones I receive? Maybe because they're white? (I really doubt UPS has some kind of inequality about package color...) White does show a bit more dirt.

And about Fragile- a person who worked at UPS on the management track (they sometimes ride shotgun and oversee loading) told me Fragile means nothing to them.

Is pick-up from the central office any better? Could it just be really rough treatment by the driver?

Maggie

It's disgusting. We've all had this experience. Sometimes it seems like the more you pay them, the less they care.

Emy

See, to me it seems like Hero Arts should be using stronger boxes, which would help minimize some of that damage.

Rainy

I used to ship pro audio gear all over the country and in my experience Fed Ex was much better than UPS. Our list of damaged gear claims went down after we switched to Fed Ex, from several a month to maybe one every two or three months. Their claims procedure for damaged goods is also easier, faster and more likely to get you compensated in a timely and fair fashion.

James

WOW! I can't believe how many people hate UPS. I am one. Used to work for them, but went to Fedx recently. Very happy!

Kurtus

I also have had some bad expirences with UPS... I once paid for next day shipping... it got to me in a week.. and im currently waiting for my mp3 player to get here. Argh

if i don't see that big brown van soon im going to implode

Carl

UPS just plain sucks! I can't believe they can actually stay in business. They aparently don't care about their customers and expect the recipients of packages should just simply waite by the door for some unknown amount of time. Even if you very specifically tell them to leave the package they refuse to leave it without a signature. In my case their depot is quite far away. The Depot manager is very rude and has the attitude that we (the recipiant)are suppose to do as we are told. period and of story. If we can't do what we are told then thats just too bad.

TIFFANY

WHY I HATE UPS...OH LET ME COUNT THE WAYS... THEY ARE RUDE. THEY ARE NEVER ON TIME... EVEN THEIR WEB SITE IS INACCUTATE. IF YOU GET THE DREADED SLIP ON YOUR DOOR, AND YOU GO TO THE WEBSITE TO TELL THEM WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE IT WILL PROMPT A TIME FOR THEIR CONVIENCE. HMMM WHO IS THE CUSTOMER HERE? IF YOU ASK FOR NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED, THEY LEAVE YOU NASTY PERSONNAL NOTES AS IF I AM DUMB AND CANNOT READ TO SIGN THE BACK OF THE FORM. I HAVE CALLED THE DEPOT LOCATED IN CLEARWATER FLORIDA SEVERAL TIMES AND THE SUPERVISOR CHRISTINE IS SO RUDE I AM SUPPRISED SHE STILL HAS A JOB. THEY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF THE TERM THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. THAT IS TOTALLY NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY. AND GOD FORBID YOU COMPLAIN, CAUSE BY THE TIME YOU DO GET YOUR PACKAGE( A WEEK LATER) IT IS DAMAGED ANYHOW AND YOU ARE GIVING THEM MORE BUSINES CAUSE YOU HAVE TO GET ANOTHER PRODUCT SHIPPED. IT IS A CONSPIRACY AND IT SUCKS. I HATE USP AS MUCH AS I HATE VALLET PARKING ESPECICALLY WHEN THEY CRASH YOUR CAR AND DON'T PAY FOR IT. I PROTEST BOTH UPS AND VALLET PARKING!!!!!

Harvey

i too hate the UPS...they frustrate the hell out of me every time...
usually its the fact they tend to leave my packages behind..

Chrystina

I HATE ups too. I always have problems with them. In fact one of my packages is MIA. No one seems to know where it went-it just got lost sometime on its way here and its a ham for my x-mas party TONIGHT! I also get buzzed for EVERYONES packages that live in my building-he just bangs on whatever buzzer he wishes. Then I go down four flights of stairs (I'm pregnant) to find that its not even for me! Once- I saw a driver carrying four boxes and of course they fell but he still had two in his arms so he started kicking the boxes that fell until they reached the door!!! Just make two trips-really! Fed-ex is much better.

Liz

I'm so glad everyone hates UPS! They stink. I've had so many problems with them in the past. And now they are up to no good again! I ordered a Christmas present for my husband online and it was shipped 12/7/06 (even though I ordered it 11/18/06, but that's another story...) and for almost 2 weeks now UPS has had my package but it still hasn't made it to my house. And because I am in fact smart enough to use tracking numbers I know that my package was in the city I live in for over a week!- yet they never even ATTEMPTED to deliver it (and I live in a gated community so they can always- and usually do- leave the package at the club house... but alas, no package!)And then after my package floated around the city for a week they sent it to another state! WTF!!! So I emailed them to ask what the problem was, and they only told me what I already knew (UPS, I can read the tracking form just like you!)And they told me if it wasn't delivered to contact the SENDER... how is this the senders problem- they haven't had the package for the last 2 weeks. Lastly, I made sure to note in my email that- and I quote- "when I have a choice I use FedEx because they don't dick around with my packages for 2 weeks at a time..." GRRR...UPS is the devil.

Rod

We sent my stepdaughter her complete Christmas via ups. Ups claimed there was no apartment number on the package and did not leave it at the apartment office. Then someone called Ups and told them she had moved and gave another address and the package was delivered there (not my daughters address) then some jerk signed for it spelling the name wrong. Ups cannot tell me who told them to deliver to the other address. Daughter had no christmas presents and we got no help from ups....I reshipped but did not use Ups. I guess i will have to eat the cost of the first shipment. I live and learn NO MORE UPS

Sue

OMG.. UPS SUCKS BALLS. I had UPS reroute studd (which I received as a gift). I wondered where everything was when it was delivered... OH WAIT.. they didn't deliver it to my work.. but somewhere 20 minutes away...!! The address wasn't even in the least bit similiar!! After spending 2 hours figuring it out, I located my packages, confirmed with the UPS guy where I wanted them shipped.. and low and behold... today they NEED AN ADDRESS TO SEND THEM TOO!!

I HATE UPS!

g33k

UPS dented a computer case that they sent me that was already 1 week late.It was not a critical dent but still. When I ship with fedex it always arrives at least one day early and not damaged.UPS is just a bunch of lazy b@stard$

wayne

Well, I hate UPS. I just sent an overnight letter on Sat. so it would be at my bank by Monday at 10:30. yes, to avoid a 35 dollar bank charge. Well UPS did me proud and dropped the ball and didn't deliever the letter till Tuesday. So, my 22.50 that they will refund will cost me over 200 dollars. Thanks UPS, I'm FED-ex from here on out. I've never had a problem EVER with Fed-ex.

roflcopter

As a ups worker all i have to say is HA! but in serious'ness'ness UPS has allot of employee's but most by far are part time workers (im one of them). It doesnt help that UPS treats its employee's like crap, combined with the fact that most of us will only be part time workers doesnt help not to mention we're always asked to work faster to get more packages out.

LUCAS

ups sucks!!! i had to run (literaly run) 30 minutes to pick up my package, and when i got there they said " the package is on the truck, you didn't csall to hold it, come back tomorrow" I CALLED AND TALKED WITH 500000 REPS!!!! i said that i wouldn't leave w/o my package... they fscking called security and trew me out from the building... a little advice DOO NOT EVER USE THOSE FSCKERS BECAUSE THEY SUCK!!!

Heath

Add me to the "I HATE UPS LIST" . . . For starters we get a weekly bill from UPS and ~40 weeks out of the year they overcharge us. Never have we found an error that was in our favor. This easily amounts to thousands of dollars per year. There isn't enough time in the day for me to list all the reasons I hate UPS. Just wish there were better companies to choose from.

SAIGuy

I sent an envelope (a normal, tiny envelope with one single personal check) "Overnight" to UPS on Tuesday night with the "guarantee" it would be there Wed Morning by 10:30am.

Here it is thursday night and i'm on hold to speak with a supervisor after 5 (yes, 5) calls to the 800 number.

Sad part is, i could've paid 50cents to slap a stamp on it and it would have arrived sooner using the regular post office!

I can't stand UPS at all. I know this seems like an isolated incident with me, but it's not, in fact it's the 4th time (i've only used them 4 times) the package is way past the "deliver by" date and they could care less.

I even asked them, what's the holdup? They responded, "our driver couldn't find the address."

Of course you can't find the address when you're driving around 1/2 stoned all the time!

Idiots. Every single last one of them.

Nick Crisci

Ups sucks so badly no one should do business with them. E V E R

soloakags

i really hope the saying really is true that what goes around comes around to this really bad company .

and all the people that got wrong by 'UPS' it all comes back to them at once.
p.s DON'T FUCKING USE 'UPS'

Tom

Check out this blog re: shipping companies - It's a project to compile phone numbers of the local depots. If you have any numbers, please add them!

I work for UPS and I have to admit I see those preloaders throw packages, another reason is because some of those boxes fall off the rollers and get smashed. Then they just retape it as if nothing had happened to the item inside the box. UPS sucks

Andy

I currently work in the logistics department of a large online retailer. As you might assume, I am constantly working with UPS as well as other carriers. When a customer of ours has a missing, late, or damaged package, I inevitably have to call UPS to file a claim. Their reps at the UPS call centers are told to fight us tooth and nail on everything, including making the claims process as difficult as possible. Every instance is excused by their call centers and more often then not, they just hang up on us. They also claim to have “technical problems” forcing me to call back later. They are never consistent and many representatives seem to be under trained. Every question I have, they have to check with a supervisor, making the claims process a lengthy one. It slows not only me down, but my department as a whole. I also get these funny scans when shipping Next Day Air…most are due at 10:30, 12:00, 3:00 and so on. But somehow many will be delivered at 10:32 with the scan “Receiver requested Delivery Delay.” I doubt my customer/receiver would request for a two minute delay. In doing this, UPS nulls any refund or claim for a lost package. Funny… yeah, they make some of my days a living hell.

neil

i,unfortunatley, work for ups in the uk.the company is run by people whose concept of fair treatment of their employees rivals the treatment of women by the taliban! We are treated like total shit and spoken to,like we are mentally retarded!working for ups is like a prison sentence in a really bad place!

tlove

i also work for ups customer service and i personally am tired of all the customers calling and whining like some 3 year olds..it is not out fault that u didnt do a time and transit to see how long ur pkg has to be del..its not our fault that u didnt put the sat sticker on the pkg and now its not gonna be del until monday..u are suppose to read people read..and another thing i just want to let all of you no that i dont feel sorry for anyone who ship there pkgs 2 days before christmas and ur pkg didnt get del until after christmas..i mean come on people how many people in the world thought like u,, because we are such a big company u cant expect for every pkg get del on the same day and at the same time ..not possible..come on people common sense..and for u people that think by u telling me that u have to have ur pkg before the due date anything else is non negoitable..sike i dont care bout who u are what u own if the scan says del date on monday GUESS WHAT U NOT GETTING IT UNTIL MONDAY NON NEGOITABLE LOL...AND GUESS WHAT MY SUPERVISOR IS GOING TO TELL U THE SAME THING HA HA HA...word of advice if ups suck so much why use us..thats ur stupidity..stop trying to order everyhting online..9 times out of 10 we have a contract with the companys that u are ordering from..get ur lazy butt up and buy it at the store..another thing we do appreaciate ur business..thanks for calling ups this is.....how may i help u lol

tlove

o and another thing ups aint going nowhere we will be here years to come assisting u people..hate it or love it have a great day

tlove

its funny how everybody talk about how fedex is the best..and im sitting here wondering if i order all the time and my shipping company keep messing up my orders why would i keep shipping with ups..i would change over to another shipping company..only smart people make only 1 mistake not 5 or more idiots lol

Clip Entertainment

If the truck doesnt get here in the next hour i'm going break something. And their "customer service" is nonexistent, no possible way to get past the automated messaging system.

Dmitry

I hate them TOO. UPS is a crap. I ordered spark plugs from US, I am in Canada, paid $40, UPS charged me $78 for shipping. I order bike, paid $570, UPS charge me $210 for shipping. They never deliver on time. The schedule they work on sucks. It does not fit schedule of working person. The customer service sucks. The office locations suck. SUCK! SUCK! SUCK! I HATE THEM! Not to mention, once they were afetr me for 6 months, loking for my payment, when I paid when I picked my package. I HATE THEM!!!! I wish I had choice and sellers do not send me stuff over UPS!

Kitty

That is just horrible. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind going to a set of forums and sharing this story with them. I believe it will help get our point across with your help.

Thanks!

Mike

Our company ships a lot of packages with UPS. Over the years we have shipped $411,000.00. But, today is our last day with these liars.

UPS's position is that the customer is always wrong, and if the customer is right, they are still wrong. There two types of UPS employees. Those who have been to the UPS University where they learn how to be pathological liars, and those employees who haven't. I am absolutely amazed by the stupid lies they tell.

Then you have the "Horrible Service" (Customer service). The reps have these "play books" where the book tells the rep how to lie and stonewall the customer. For example, last week we pointed out that UPS was breaking the law. There response: UPS is a big International company, so we don't have to follow the law. We are free to break the law in your state.

Then we have Accounting. Last year they decided to change the mailing of their bills to Bulk Mail. Now I get my bill AFTER the due date. UPS's position: It's the customers fault that they are getting the bill late. Even if you pay the bill the same day you will still get a slammed with a 60% interest finance charge. We also find that we don't get 5% of our bills. Again, UPS's position is that this is the customer's fault. Unbelievable!

Then we have Package Insurance. UPS's position is that the damage is the shippers fault. We stopped using UPS's insurance and started to self-insure. This upset ups, but screw them. UPS's position is to deny all insurance claims. We had to report them to our State Insurance department, and UPS changed their position almost instantly and paid the claim.

Then you have the abuse they disk out to their drivers. Their drivers are always wrong. One day our regular driver was off, and his supervisor came into our office complaining about our driver. I quickly corrected him. Our driver is the ONLY person in UPS that is honest and works hard and cares about us, so please don't return tomorrow.

Then we have management who likes to change the computer data to keep themselves out of trouble. Can you say Sarbanes-Oxley!

The problem is top management. They don't care about you, me, or anyone else.

Then we have the local distribution center. Their old out-of-date distribution system is capable of destroying the sturdiest boxes. Then you have management who is constantly not shipping out our packages like they are suppose to. And, take one guess who the blame. The next day our customer gets an Email stating that WE didn't ship the package the day we claimed that we did, and that is why the customer will get it late. What a LIE!

Then you have that horrible NAFTA charge for Canada shipment. They are just screwing Canadian customers. We are importers, and we know better. It is just pure profit for them.

The problems at UPS are endless. But, you should call their 800 number as often as possible and waste as much time as possible.

susan

I hate UPS. They are low-life morons, who pretend to deliver you packages even though time and time again they never leave notices, and then hang up on you when you call to complain.
This is a monopoly I cannot stand. I can't buy anything online - when I try to make my life more convenient, it only becomes a bigger hassle having to fight to get my package.
Screw em!

tlove

ok idoits stop shipping with ups!!duh ups is not putting a gun to yall heads and "saying ship with us" go to fedex or usps or somebody else if we suck so much leave us alone

Oscar

All the things you say about UPS Fed Ex Does too. The only difference is UPS Delivers 15 million pkgs a day and Fed Ex 4 Million. It just seems like UPS has more damage but the average is the same.

the Eraser

Yeah, I work at UPS inside the warehouse and I promise you that no one hates that company more than I do. I urge you all not to do business with them. FedEX really is so much cheaper. If you could see the shit that happens to peoples packages inside our facilities than you seriously would never ship with them. I ALWAYS use FedEX or the post office shen I have to ship. PLEASE DO NOT SHIP UPS EVER! We WILL destroy your property!

big dawg

I cannot believe how dumb some people are! think about how many people are on here bitchin and moaning about every little thing. as some one else already said ups ships 15 million packages a day! do you really your few complaints make a difference? lol oh and some of you who say you spend so much money shipping stuff "over the years" UPS has hundreds of clients that spent millions of dollars a week to use UPS. Do you really think your one package that cost $25 to ship makes a difference? haha yeah right! And finally if you think about it who do you actually pay for shipping? not UPS. You guys pay the sender and the outsources to UPS to deliver. So in actuality most recipients of packages are not UPS customers, the sender is ! just thought I wouldn't shed some light on the subject for a bunch of whiny little b***es! thank you and have a wonderful day! hahahahahah

upsjustblows

UPS is HORRIBLE - I had a package completely destroyed and UPS claims that "the package was in this state before the left the seller's warehouse." The seller is furious and so am I. Instead of complaining, I am ACTING - I just switched my company's shipping vendor from UPS to FedEx. That's $10K a year - let's see what their 2nd quarter results look like now!

bigeasy

ur an idiot! do you honestly think a measly $10,000 a year account will make a difference? hahaha ups makes that in about an hour! hahaha

Fred Smith
