I distract you once again with chocolate. . .

Scharffenberger_brownie

The best laid plans. . .   I had planned to make the brownies from my new favorite cookbook -- Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook -- but when I went to the grocery, they didn't have any semisweet Scharffenberger baking chocolate.  They did however, have some bittersweet baking chocolate -- all the better in my opinion -- but I wasn't sure how it would translate in the recipe.  Baking is such a funny thing.

I grabbed the chocolate anyway, figuring that Scharffenberger was sure to have some recipes on their website and they didn't let me down!  I choose to make John's Favorite Brownies despite the fact that I didn't have a double boiler.  I just threw a pyrex bowl on top of a saucepan and it worked just fine.

These brownies are super rich and I would highly recommend them!

(You didn't want to see my progress on pseudo-melody anyway, did you?  It really does pretty much look like it did a couple days ago despite my furious knitting.)

Oh my gosh! Those look so delicious - can you bring one over with some milk?

Great...now I'm craving chocolate. :p

Those brownies are, as the Germans would say, ausgezeichnet.

Too funny! I was just surfing for brownie recipies! I found one called Outrageous Brownies from Ina Garten that I am going to try. Luckily I am taking them to a retreat, or I might eat all 20 of them myself!

Pleeeeease stop it! I'm not well enough to do baking at the moment, and I can't eat store-bought stuff (long story involving food intollerances), so all of your chocolate-related postings are driving me *crazy*! :)

I can smell them from my office in the Loop, and that's gonna have to do it for me...............but, they sure do look yummy!

*licking the monitor - just hoping I can taste the chocolate!*

Just came home from a vacation at the beach in Mendocino, and saw your brownie post. For Valentines Day our oldest daughter gave us a big pink bakery box filled with Ina Garten's OUTRAGEOUS BROWNIEs,that she(our daughter) had baked. Ina is known as THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA. They are orgasmic and the best brownies I have ever eaten in my whole life.We are now begging for a monthly box. This same daughter also sent us Croissants from Williams Sonoma; frozen and ready to bake. She is definitly in the will.
