I'm feeling a bit. . .
. . . under the weather. You know, that feeling you get just before a cold? I'm planning on drinking lots of hot tea this afternoon. After all Saturday is my birthday and I really don't want to be sick on the day I turn 36!
So needless to say I'm kind of floundering through the day. I wanted to show you that I have been knitting though:

I've been working on a new bag design! I just love knitting felted bags. There's something about Cascade 220 and size 10 1/2 circs. It's my mac & cheese knitting. It's so comforting to me. I don't know what it is. So that's what I've been working on during the Olympics. It's perfect because I don't have to look at what I'm doing.
I also wanted to tell you about the yarn shop that Theresa and I got a chance to visit last weekend. It's called Peggy's Strands of Heaven and it's in downtown Plainfield, IL. The selection of yarn was really nice and shop was cute. It's an old building and she kept a lot of the original fixtures. There were places to sit and knit too. I didn't buy much as I'm trying to work down the stash, but I couldn't resist this summery Trekking yarn:

That's Trekking XXL in colorway 107. My Trekking 100 socks are my favorites to wear, so I think this is probably a good investment.
Now I'm off to finish up some work so I can get some rest this afternoon. I will not be sick on my birthday -- I refuse. (Me stomping my foot on the ground and crossing my arms. Hmph!)
Regarding your maybe-cold; I'd highly recommend hot water, a teaspoon of honey and a dash of lemon juice. I felt I was sickening for something before my exams last year, tried this and I didn't get sick. Could have been coincidence ... but hey, worked for me! :)

Make yourself a hot toddy, get some Vicks Vap-o-rub, Nyquil, Orange Juice and Chicken Soup. You will be fine by Saturday, you will be fine by Saturday, you will be fine by Saturday.

Happy double chai! (I'm not Jewish, but I think that "chai" is great, and a fabulous way to mark an 18th, 36th, etc, birthday.) More info on chai is at http://judaism.about.com/cs/judaismbasics/f/number18_why.htm if you're not familar already...)

Have you tried that Emergen-C stuff? I swear by it. I haven't caught any of the crud my friends and office mates have tried to give me. It is at Walgreens and comes in little packets you pour in water. Orange is gross, cranberry not so bad. I've stopped 3 colds with it this winter. Not bad, huh?

That Trekking is super-cute - I feel like I should pick up flowers on the way home from work.
Here's to hoping you stay well!

I second the recommendation for Emergen-C - you can find it at your local food co-op/health food store, and I've heard rumors that Walmart carries it, too.
I hope you manage to beat this - it's no fun being sick, especially not on your birthday!

hate hate hate the cold - here's gigi's remedy..... i swear i have staved off countless colds that i "felt coming on" by drinking endless glasses of water and sleeping as much as possible. like - go to bed right now!sleep the clock around if you can.
if you still get the cold continue with the above and add the toddy's as well

Cascade 220 is wonderful to work with. It's my fav felting yarn. I'm really jealous of your Trekking, what great colors! Too bad I didn't see that one the other day when I picked up some Trekking for myself....sigh. I can always get it next time - hehe.

LOVE the Trekking! I am knitting socks with something I don't really like right now - so it is going SLOW - plus it is my first pair - or should I say first sock!! Anyways - have been meaning to ask you about that Jubilee sock you did - where'd you get that yarn? I have been trying to find it - to make my mom a pair for Christmas after I get the hang of this sock thing!
ANd for the cold - my mom swears by Zicam - and now she's gotten my dad and my husband hooked. Of course I didn't listen and have been suffering through a cold since Saturday!

I love that LYS. I just picked some trekking up there for myself not too long ago.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Feel better. You will NOT get sick. You won't! And I'll put a word in for Zicam and/or Cold-eeze . . .

I can't even admit out lout how much Trekking I have in my stash and on hold at my LYS. It's just *embarrassing*.

Where in Downtown Plainfield is the store? I have been so good...now it will be too convenient to stop on my way home from work or on a Saturday....

Oooooh... I've looked at that Trekking color online before and I *love* it. I seriously need to invest in some.
A new bag? A new bag? I can hardly wait! (I still need to knit my last bag pattern, but I can still collect more, right?)

You turned me into a Trekking freak, when I saw your Trekking 100's. I bought lots at Stitches West. I also found a "new" (for me) favorite: Mega Boots Stretch by Lana Grossa. It is soft and yummy and produces a similar fun colorway, like the Trekking. **You will not get sick because you are telling yourself that you will not get sick. Works most of the time.

I went to the LYS that I don't normally visit, and they had this very same Trekking in stock. I squealed a little when I saw it - I think I scared the store owner! I just had to have it, right then and there. It is now waiting, patiently, in my stash. I adore it!
