Vacation Read -- Anybody Out There?
VACATION READ ALERT! Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes is just the right thing to take on vacation or read in the backyard while sipping lemonade (or a marguerita!) I picked this up right before we went on vacation and I was so happy with my choice. If you aren't a fan of chick lit -- you haven't read Marian Keyes. (I haven't found any chick lit that I can stomache other than Keyes -- but I adore her books.)
Read it when you are in the mood for something light -- I think you'll like it!
Also by Keyes:
- Watermelon
- Last Chance Saloon
- Angels: A Novel
- Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married
- The Other Side of the Story: A Novel
- Rachel's Holiday
Most of these are about different sisters in the same family -- so it's kind of fun reading them all!
marian keyes is truly my favourite-i was just thinking the other day that it was such a shame 'anybody out there' came out last year, because that means no new books until at least NEXT year!!

Tee hee, I'm reading Angels right now - translated into Swedish, of all languages.

I love Marian Keyes. I find Maeve Binchy to be similar in feel--not as classically chick lit, but worth trying, if you haven't yet.
And the first Kinsella shopaholic book is dandy--the others not so much.
Oh, wait--one more. The all email book, Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot is also very good.
Whew. In the end, though--Marian Keyes rules.

I really liked Sushi For Beginners. She's fun. I think I've only read 2 of her novels, but I was impressed to find someone was writing chick lit who could actually write well.

You're right. I don't care much for chick lit anymore, but do like Marian Keyes. I like some of the suggestions others have given in the comments too. I do like Maeve Binchy as well. The first Shopaholic book was good, the others have gotten increasingly harder to bear.
Thanks for the book report on the book by Dinaw Megetsu. I do want to read that.

I'm in total agreement with you about Marion Keyes -- the perfect read when you are looking for fun and fluff.

Marian Keyes is one of my favorite authors if not my favorite. I love that it's not fluff she's writing about - addiction, death, divorce, etc. but she writes with great humor too!
