In the last 7 days, we have been without water and then power. Things are back to normal now and I'm looking forward to a weekend of cooking, eating, relaxing and watching Harry Potter movies. (It's hot here -- and I don't do heat well, so indoor activities are called for.)
Despite the troubles of the past week, I've made progress on my first log cabin quilt. These 12 squares are just laid out together so I could get an idea of size. I believe I have enough fabric to add another round to each block, which should get it to a more usable size.
And while it hasn't rained much here in the last several weeks, the garden is starting to show signs of activity. Here is a little cuke that is starting to grow (thanks to my daily watering). And this morning while picking strawberries, I saw a tiny green tomato. Onions look like they need to be pulled up soon and I probably need to pull up a carrot to see if it's doing anything. We can't seem to grow carrots very well here in our clay-ish soil, so my hopes are not high. Oh, and also the baby bunny ate a bunch of the carrot tops when he/she was still small enough to get through the fencing around the garden.
Time to go find a butterbeer recipe!
