The Ring Remains Closed

Just writing to let you all know that I have cleaned up the "rules" over in the right hand column. I'm trying to get everything in order before I open the ring again.

Please note the new emphasis on "weekly posting." I'm not trying to tell anyone how often that they need to post, I'm just saying that if you want to be in this ring, you need to post on a regular basis. (This should help reduce the number of sites that are in and out of the queue multiple times, thus taking up a lot of time which could be bettter used getting new members into the ring.)

These rules are needed to keep the ring managable. With a ring this size, the number of sites going in and out of the ring in one week is quite large. I've been implementing these rules so that the work generated by the ring stays at a minimum and the ability to navigate the ring stays at a maximum. I'm not telling anyone how to run their blog, I'm just deciding how I will run my ring.

If all goes as planned, the ring will re-open in a couple of weeks!

And thank you again to my ring checkers! You are a huge help!

Thank you also to all the people who have offered to help with the ring and who have written to tell me how much they appreciate my efforts. All these kind messages help me to forget the few unkind ones. (Yes, I do get nasty notes and comments every once in a while.)

Happy Knitting!

Ring Still Closed!

These are just the sites that were left in the queue before I closed the ring.

Sites added today:

Yoga Knitter

Enchanting Juno

So Shmoopy

Cyber Fiber

Widow Knits

Ring closed to new members temporarily! Please come back in a month or two!

Please do not apply to join the ring, as you will just be deleted. Thanks & Happy Knitting!

So the Knitting Blogs Web Ring has broken 500. What does this mean? I said before that I might close the ring once it hit 500, but instead, I've decided to stop taking new sites for a while. (If you are in the queue now, get the code up on your site & post on a regular basis and you will be added). It takes a lot of time to manage 500 sites, even with great helpers! Speaking of great helpers, I'm looking for 2-3 more. So, if you are willing to look through 50 sites each week and report back to me, let me know by sending me an email.

I've spent 100's of hours on this ring. Why do I do it? Because I love the fact that so many knitter's have met each other because of the ring. And I love the fact that despite it's huge size -- it works! The links are constantly checked and delinquent blogs are removed.

I know that there are lots of knitters who still want to join. I have new sites applying everyday! Be patient and come back in a month or two!

Happy Knitting!

A big Thank You to Carolyn at Split Yarn who has offered to take 50 sites!!

I'm all caught up! If you are in the queue, it's because you aren't following the rules. If you want me to take time out of my day to review your site, please take 2 minutes to read the rules. Only seems fair, doesn't it? The biggest offense is not posting regulalry for at least a month before joining. I don't care if you've had a blog for a year. If you have only posted once or twice in the last month, please wait until you you are posting on a regular basis again before you join. And if you haven't had a blog for at least a month and you joined -- you were deleted. Please re-apply after you have been blogging for a while. Thanks!
