The Ring Remains Closed
Just writing to let you all know that I have cleaned up the "rules" over in the right hand column. I'm trying to get everything in order before I open the ring again.
Please note the new emphasis on "weekly posting." I'm not trying to tell anyone how often that they need to post, I'm just saying that if you want to be in this ring, you need to post on a regular basis. (This should help reduce the number of sites that are in and out of the queue multiple times, thus taking up a lot of time which could be bettter used getting new members into the ring.)
These rules are needed to keep the ring managable. With a ring this size, the number of sites going in and out of the ring in one week is quite large. I've been implementing these rules so that the work generated by the ring stays at a minimum and the ability to navigate the ring stays at a maximum. I'm not telling anyone how to run their blog, I'm just deciding how I will run my ring.
If all goes as planned, the ring will re-open in a couple of weeks!
And thank you again to my ring checkers! You are a huge help!
Thank you also to all the people who have offered to help with the ring and who have written to tell me how much they appreciate my efforts. All these kind messages help me to forget the few unkind ones. (Yes, I do get nasty notes and comments every once in a while.)
Happy Knitting!
How set in stone is weekly? FOr example, what about if someone is away on holiday? Or studying for exams?

Liz -- There are always exceptions. Usually people aren't moved to the queue unless they haven't posted in a month. There are some blogs that post once a month, or once every 5 or 6 weeks. They have to be put in the queue and checked over and over. Many times they are moved back to the ring and then go without posting for about a month again. This creates a lot of work for me, as you can imagine. I'm not trying to move people to the queue that are on vacation for a week! That would create MORE work for me and I'm trying to reduce the work generated by the ring.
Happy Knitting!

you're a hero for all your work on this.

Why do you only kick out some blogs that don't post in a month, and don't kick out more commercial ones that haven't posted in over a month? Just wondering.

Janine --
Who are you referring to? My ring checkers email me every week and I remove sites that haven't posted in over a month.

Thank you for clearing up the rules about joining the ring when your blog is "older" than a month old. That will help many people understand better and will save them from feeling like they did something wrong by trying to join the ring if they don't meet that criteria yet. That is all I asked for. Thank you.

Janine --
First of all, I guess you are too afraid to leave your real email address, which says it all.
Secondly, Matt's blog isn't in the ring and Rob's is only a few days over a month without posting, so I'm sure he'll be removed next time that the checker in that part of the ring reports in.
You are wasting my time. If you don't like this ring, then go start your own or go join a different one.

Julie - First of all - You are a DOLL! for all the work you do for/with this ring. Thank you!
Second - I just changed blog hosts. What do I need to do to update you with my new web address? I see the member login but it's been so long since I joined I can't remember my password.

what you do here is awesome, and I keep checking back for that reason!
In or out of the ring I am still willing to help because I think it is a great ring and well worth supporting :)
