Ring Temporarily Closed to New Members!

There are over 100 sites in the queue, so until I have a chance to get caught up, I have shut the ring.

I also need a few ring checkers! If you are interested email me at juie_aATcomcastDOTnet. Make sure you include a link to your website. I ask that you have been a member of the ring for a while and that you have had a knitting blog for a while. It would also help if you have some experience with basic html and the major blogging platforms.

Every time I open the ring the number of sites that join increases and adding sites to the ring is a very manual process. It takes a lot of time to add sites while keeping the already huge ring in working order.

When you join, your site goes into a queue. There are lots of people joining and I have to check all of these sites to make sure they meet the rules and requirements. Make sure you meet these requirements and that you get your ring code up on your site. Once I have a chance to check your site, assuming you have met the requirements, you are moved to the ring. This may take a few days or a few weeks.

The Knitting Blogs Web Ring will re-open tomorrow. That's the 7th. Please do not join before then! If you do, you will be deleted and have to re-apply.

Also make sure that you have reviewed the rules and that you meet the requirements *before* you join. Anyone who does not meet the requirements will be deleted and will have to re-apply after they meet the requirements. Joining when you don't meet the requirements only creates more work for me, which means that the queue gets backed up and it takes me longer to add sites to the ring.

Please be patient when you join! When I re-open the ring, there are usually *lots* of applications and it takes me time to get all the sites checked and added to the ring.

Having said all that. . . wish me luck! I know there are a lot of you waiting to join and I'm sure I'll be spending many hours working on the ring for the next few weeks and months.

Ring Closed Until after the Holidays!!

It's that time of year! Things are getting very busy for me & I'm sure they are for you too!

The volume of new members has been increasing dramatically lately and I'm afraid that I'm going to have to close the ring to new members until the beginning of January. There's no way I can keep up with it and handle the craziness of the holiday season.

Anyone currently in the queue will be added (if you meet the requirements!) in the next couple weeks. The cut off is site id 2647. If you get a site id larger than that, you have joined after the ring was closed and your application will be deleted, so you will have to come back and re-apply in January.

I will post here when the ring is re-opened!

Thanks to everyone who offered to help check the ring. All the open positions are filled and I tried to email everyone who responded. Without the ring checkers' help, this ring could not be the size it is and still work!

I'm still looking for a tech person though! This should not require any more time each week than ring checking. If you are interested, please email me!

REQUEST FOR HELP!

Over the last couple of weeks, I've been doing some much needed ring work. I'm trying to round up the checkers and fill any open spots. So here's what I need -- 4 ring checkers & one technical question person.

Ring Checkers will have to look through 50 sites every 7-14 days and report back to me with any issues. Checkers should have good blogging skills -- such as some basic html and knowledge of the major blogging platforms.

The "Technical question" person will have to have very good web skills including a knowledge of the major blogging platforms, experience with html and an understanding of the differences amongst the major browsers. You wll be the person to whom I forward all technical ring questions.

Please email me, making sure to include your blog name and a link to your blog. Also tell me whether you would like to be a checker or tech person.

Really lovely. RingSurf in their continued effort to make my life more difficult has added a new "feature." They now take some sites out of the ring automatically and put them in a category called "sites of interest." Supposedly these sites do not load or don't have the correct code or something. It's not true though!!!! I just started checking these "sites of interest" that they removed from the ring and all but one of them loaded just fine and had the correct code. ARGH!

So if you have been removed from the ring and you meet the ring requirements, you may have been removed by RingSurf. I just hope that these same sites don't repeatedly get dumped into this category. Sigh.

Catch up time! It was getting out of hand -- there wer 75 sites in the queue! So I fixed myself an iced mocha and sat down at the computer hoping to get caught up on the web ring. I did a blitz! Here's what this means -- if you were in the queue and you did not meet the requirements, you were deleted. (Although I stretched the rules a bit so that I could add as many of you as possible!) I just do not have the time to individually email everyone to let them know why they were deleted today. I had been doing this up to this point, but you can see where it has gotten me. So here are the requirements and rules once again:

Hopefully I'll be able to send out emails in the future, but sometimes I guess I will have to do this if I am going to try to keep the ring open for long periods of time.
