I wanted to point you all to a great pincushion tutorial I stumble across this morning. Over at the Moda Bakeshop blog, they have posted a tutorial for Giant Pincushions. They are awfully cute and look like they would be fun to make too!
I hope you all were able to figure out the June theme, because I completely forgot to post it! Since I don't trust myself to have my act together this summer, I'm hereby announcing that the general theme for the rest of the summer will simply be:
So pull out all the most colorful supplies you have an go for it! I'm looking forward to seeing your pincushions!
The first leg of the Roy G. Biv pincushion challenge is almost over. Please don't forget to upload your red pincushions to the Pincushion Challenge Flicr Group! And start searching for your orange scraps, because Orange is the theme for May!
After a long hiatus, I am bringing back the Pincushion Challenge! I was very excited to see that there are many of you out there still interested in making pincushions and I'm excited too.
The new theme will actually run for the next 7 months. The challenge is called:
That's right, the old mnemonic for remembering the colors in the visible spectrum -- Roy G. Biv. Which leads us to the theme for April. . .
So search your scrap bins and fiber stashes for some reds and get to work! This time around I'm going to do my best to feature your pincushions here on the Pincushion Challenge blog, so while I ask that you still upload your pincushion photos to the Pincushion Challenge Flickr Group, you can also email me photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.Make sure to include your blog or website url and any other info you would like to share!
I have an idea for a series of Pincushion Challenges for the coming months which I will roll out April 1st. But for now -- I'm very interested to see who is out there and still interested in doing challenges. Please leave me a comment, letting me know your favorite material, technique, etc. for making pincushions. I'd also love some links to more online pincushion tutorials so I can update the sidebar and give people some new inspiration. I can't wait to hear from you!
I can hardly believe that this challenge is almost ended! Where did the last two months go? Please make sure to upload your photo to the Flickr group before the end of the week -- I can't wait to see your monogram pincushions!
