The theme for August and September will be:

So go through your closets and drawers, hit the local thrift shops, garage sales and flea markets and start crafting!
Some ideas to get you started:
- Use that old t-shirt that has seen better days but that you can't bear to part with.
- Find an old wool sweater and felt it -- use the felt to make you pincushion.
- Use an old tin as the base for your pincushion -- or an old jar -- or an old box.
- Do you save all the ribbons from gifts? They would be a great trim.
- Find used buttons at estate sales or off old clothes in your own closet.
Have an idea? Please leave it in the comments or email it to me. I'll post lists of suggestions several times over the course of the challenge.
Pincushion photos for the recycle challenge must me in to me no later than midnight September 30th.
Now on to:

The Pincushion Swap! The October-November challenge will have an extra component added in -- a swap. I'm going to talk about it now because I have an idea. I'm going to ask that anyone who wants to join the swap first participates in a pincushion challenge. So if you want to swap -- you have to have completed either the Fruit, Flower or Recycle challenge. Why? Well, I think that anyone who completes a challenge has a pretty good chance of completing a pincushion for their partner.
That's all I'll say for now, more details to follow!

I would like to participate. What should I do?

Yay! This pincushion theme fits perfectly with the other things I have going on this month. I am so in! It's extra nice that this theme stretches over 2 months - gives me more time to go completely over the top with ideas :) The October-November swap theme is interesting too. i've never participated in a swap, so this would be a great way to get started. Guess I'd better get cracking on those pincushions!

I've been here before but never participated - this time I'm ready! :)
One idea I had is old baby clothes. I think that's what I am going to try.

I am just wondering if the entire cushion has to be made of recycled items or if it can be mixed with new stuff as well?

The promise of an exchange is making me actually create a pincushion instead of just thinking about it, lol!
Does anyone have a good tip for felting a 100% cashmere sweater? I'm thinking luxury for this pincushion! Thanks!
